Comprehension - Flying back home

Grade 3: English FAL – Monday, 4 May 2020

Dear grade 3 learners,

We are going do a comprehension today. You are going to read a text and answer some questions.

Assignments for the day:

• Read the text in your red DBE books on p.56.

       Flying back home

• Complete the comprehension questions on p.57.
• We are going to work with vowels.
• Do the written work in you red DBE book.

Important things to remember when you are answering comprehension questions:

1. Read the story 3 times.

2. Read each question and search for the answer in the text.

3. Answer the questions in full sentences by beginning each sentence with a

    capital letter and ending it with a full stop.

4. You will find most of the answers in the text.

5. Check for any spelling errors.

Vowels:

The five vowels are: a, e, i, o, u.

Read the story on p.56 and complete the activities on p.57 in your red DBE books.

 

Be careful when you’re answering the comprehension questions. You need to be certain of your answers. Look for the answers in the text that is given to you.

 

For example:

1. How do the children get onto the plane?

They use the steps.

Fill in the correct vowels to complete the words so that they match the pictures. Then draw a line from the word to the correct picture.
